The International Conference is an annual event in which chilean and foreign professionals participate, and is sponsored by important national companies and institutions. The conference was held in Santiago, Chile, until 1992, and from 1993 in other cities (La Serena, Concepción, Arica), being Valdivia chosen for 1996 and Viñas del Mar for 1997 (together with the CLEI conference).
From 1990, the SCCC has also started other activities. Workshops on multimedia has been organized, as well as seminars on current tecnologies. The society also sponsors a local magazine edited by the Engineering Faculty of the Catholic University, with numbers specially dedicated to Computer Science. A bulletin is also published four times per year, and a magazine is beginning to be published.
The SCCC has strong links to international institutions, such as CLEI (Latin American Center of Studies in Computing), IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing), IEEE Computer Society, and ACM (Association for Computing Machinery). In 1989 the XV Latin American Conference on Informatics was held in Santiago, Chile; jointly with CLEI. A ``joint membership agreement'' was accorded with ACM that allows, among other benefits, a discount for SCCC members that wish to join ACM.
Additionally, the SCCC develops joint activities with national institutions, such as the Software Engineering Group, the University of Concepción, the University of Santiago, the Catholic University of the North, the University of Chile and the Catholic University of Chile.
